My Favorite Home Decor Hacks
Wow, I can't believe it has been a year since we moved into our house! I finally hung the last of the decor last week lol, but let's be real are you ever done decorating your house? I don't think so. There's still a long list of things we want to do, like update the kitchen countertops, add a backsplash, and possibly update the bathrooms...among many other boring things. These things take time! I'm not trying to go into debt to decorate our home, so most of our stuff is either from our parents, Amazon, Wayfair, Home Goods, Walmart (yes, they actually have really cute stuff!), or Target. I'm aware my style isn't everyones cup of tea, but if you see something you like you can shop it by clicking on the photos!

Adding mirrors in darker areas to help reflect lghte and open up a room. I did this in our dining room to help reflect light coming from the window on the adjacent wall.
Light colored rugs to brighten up darker spaces. Our bedroom doesn't get very much natural light so I added a large white shag rug and it definitely brightens up the room.
New light fixtures can transform a space. The first thing we did in our house was replace the light fixtures which helped it feel more like our own right off the bat.
Sheer curtains gives a light and airy feel to any room. There is just something about light hitting shear curtains that just soothes my little soul.
Hang curtains higher than the window. This makes the space look bigger and make sure the curtains go all the way to the floor.
Draping a blanket over an old piece of furniture like a chair or ottoman. I draped a fur blanket over an old turquoise ottoman in our guest room and I get so many compliments!
Plants liven up a space. They literally bring life to a space. Unfortunately, I do not have a green thumb, so I opt for faux plants and they still add a nice touch to our home!
Use household items to elevate plants to make the room look larger. It can be hard to find a plant that is the right height for your space. I decided to use some of my old college books to elevate the plant in our bedroom and it look so much better.
