Birthday in the Bahamas

I think the Bahamas may be my new favorite weekend getaway. Plane tickets weren't that expensive (~$250 each) considering its out of the country, but the flight was only 50 mins! I love that we were able to fly out after work on a Thursday and fly back Sunday night giving us 3 full days to explore. Perks of living in South Florida!

JT and I got lucky with accommodations. Our good family friends Janet and Ralph, who I have known for almost my whole life just moved to Nassau a few months ago (see pic below). They are incredibly sweet for letting us stay with them for 3 nights and I owe them a HUGE thank you for hosting and showing us around the island. It was an experience I'll never forget and I feel so blessed to have people like them in my life.

The first day of our trip Ralph, who works at Baha Mar as the Director of Residential Sales, gave us a tour of the whole property. The property includes the Grand Hyatt, Rosewood, and SLS. It is absolutely stunning! You can tell there was so much time and thought put in to the design. It seemed like every corner I turned I was saying WOW. It truly is spectacular and I can't recommend this place enough. After the tour, Ralph got us a cabana at the SLS for the day. It was such a treat. Especially the complimentary rose and fruit plate. I was in heaven to say the least.

The following day was my birthday and Janet and Ralph went above and beyond as hosts and rented a boat for the day. It was hands down the best birthday I've had to date! Our captain, Mr. T as we called him, was hilarious. Once he found out it was my birthday he whipped out the rum lol. We cruised around Paradise Island admiring the mansions and yachts before stopping to snorkel for a little bit. After playing with the fishies our captain decided to take us to a protected area that was known for sea turtles. I was so excited because I LOVE sea turtles. He said he doesn't usually take people there but since it was my birthday it was my present. It was absolutely amazzzing! We saw so many turtles!! We then found a secluded beach that we swam to and explored. We wrapped up the boat trip with a lap around the Atlantis fountains and then headed back to the house to clean up before dinner.

For dinner we went back to Baha Mar where we had reservations at Cleo in the lobby of the SLS. First of all, the aesthetic of the place is RIGHT up my alley. Minimalist meets boho but also glitzy...that's how I like it. If you've ever been to an SLS property you know what I'm talking about. It's very chic. The food at Cleo was honestly some of the best food I've ever had. If you're a fan of Mediterranean food you would LOVE this restaurant. The menu is meant to be shared so we ordered multiple plates and there was not one thing I didn't like. 10/10 would recommend if you ever visit Baha Mar! The service was on point all night, we got to meet the Chef and he even brought me a special mousse cake! Then we wrapped it all up with limoncello, mmm.

The next day we concluded the trip that I'll remember for the rest of my life with lunch at the cutest little restaurant on the beach called Blue Sail followed by a beautiful beach day.

...and that's what my 27th birthday looked like! Of course JT took tons of video and flew the drone around, and said he will be working on this Bahamas video right after his next wedding video edit is done. So stay tuned!

Until next time...and in the meantime, I'll see you over on @brunchandthebeach!

Thanks for reading!
